Shrine of All Names that are Arbitrary

"...stupid comments are just plain stupid no matter where you go."

Welcome.

If you're visiting this holy page, chances are you're interested in hearing the wisdom of the almighty prophet, ArbitraryName.
Over the months, before his crucifixion (permanent banning), AN prophesized many comings of the videogame world. Several of his most well-known are preserved here.

ArbitraryName's Words of Wisdom

"You have to actually play an oddworld game to get a sense of the universe."
Such powerful words... and yet, so true. So many people pass through life trying to find importance and salvation in such silly things as life and religion, yet they don't even realize that all that is important and necessary for fulfillment of the soul is whether the body has experienced an Oddworld videogame on the Xbox.

"Nintendo has a history of showing FMV as ingame shots, so you cant trust anything you see from them."
Again, so true. Many can recall the time when Nintendo doctored their screenshots of Amped Snowboarding and then released them as authentic - oh, wait, except that was Microsoft. =)

"The only folks who believe that Nintendo will even be somewhat close to MS's showing at E3 [2001]
are people who have absolutely no clue what E3 is about."
Absolutely. When E3 2001 was finished, only the several hundred people impressed with the Xbox and its games fully understood why E3 even existed. Such truth.

"The GameCube will launch poorly because its so close to the Xbox launch.
No one should launch that close to a Microsoft product."
Ah, we all remember this happening. Nintendo couldn't even manage to sell more than a million systems by year's end
...oh, wait, yes, they did.

"XBox games WILL be less expensive than GameCube games."
'Tis a damn shame our good friend ArbitraryName never wrote a math textbook.
To see his corollary of simple arithmetic proving that 49.99 > 49.99 in plain writing would be nothing short of divine.

"Worms is an awesome game."

"perpetrating more myths, and trying to pass them off as fact"
The single darkest point in my entire life. I remember this day all too well;
ArbitraryName scolded me for my apparent lack of knowledge.
If only I possessed his expertise...

"the vast majority of games on the GameCube wont be competitive with the XBox/PS2 at all by the end of the cycle."
Here we see AN's only prophecy whose proof is still in pending.
By the looks of the incredible Xbox sales in Japan thus far, however, it seems far too overwhelmingly accurate already.

"The idea that there are masses of people out there pining for Gamecube info is just laughable."
When ArbitraryName proclaimed this, I immediately knew that IGN's Board statistics were wrong
seeing as they reported the GameCube boards as almost twice as accurate as the Xbox boards.

"I cant believe you tried to pass off Factor 5 as a third party."
This certainly was a cryptic comment at first, but after a bit of analysis, it made perfect sense.
It's obvious what he was trying to convey - Factor 5 really isn't a third-party,
even if the entire company thinks so! They're all wrong! Hah! Dumbasses!

"GameCube is completely inferior to the XBox, and is barely competitive with the PS2."
AN shows us how to distinguish positive from normative statements:
When other people state their opinions, it's a normative statement.
When he states his opinion, it's a positive statement. So simple, really!

"Find me a single 3rd party developer who has made a positive statement about the total power of the gamecube."
I mean, seriously, has a positive statement ever been made by a 3rd party about the GameCube?

Sadly, this is all that we were able to salvage to this day.
You can be certain, however, that as more of ArbitraryName's words of wisdom are unearthed, they will be posted here.
