Here's where I'll keep a little record of past site updates.
NOTE: Page has been stripped of any attractive decoration to ensure quick loading, since it'll likely get huge.
NOTE: Went ahead and moved the Meijer section here. If you want to access it, you'll have to do so from here now.

Interesting
stories to tell.
So first of all, don't worry, my corneal ulcer is supposedly healing and going away, and there shouldn't be any permanent implications after it's gone. However, it is still there, and I still don't like parading around all day in sunlight as my eye is light sensitive.
But here's the funny thing that happened to me yesterday. First, the backstory. I live in apartment complex with three friends of mine - that makes four people in our apartment. Each apartment only is allotted two parking spots - the other two residents must park across the street. So, we switch off... no big deal.
Anyway, I returned home to my paid parking spot yesterday (it's my month) to see another, brand-new, licenseless car in my spot. I waited for a couple of hours (I don't like to tow people because often they're only parking for a matter of minutes, even if it is in our spot), but the driver of the car never showed up. Now look people, I am not a mean person - in fact, I'm the only person I know who is actually patient enough to, in most cases, give the driver a chance to get back to their car before calling a tow truck. But since I don't have any place to park if someone's in my spot, I decided that it was time for me to get it over with. So I called the towing company, and, rather reluctantly, and had them come and get the car so that I could park in my spot and get on with my life.
Then, when I'm going out to pick up some McDonald's this morning, I see this on my front windshield (click).
The first thing that went through my head was "Why in the world is she acting as if I'm the one who did something wrong here? Talk about a spoiled brat!" Then I noticed that she had referred to us as "poor college students"... she has a brand new car! What am I supposed to do when someone parks in our parking spot because they didn't see the sign and the numbers painted on the ground in each spot? I guess next time I'll walk around through the apartment complex first with a bullhorn yelling, "Attention! Whoever it is that parked in my spot - is it your birthday?"
She even goes so far as to wish this misfortune on myself... how nice of her! Unfortunately, I'm probably not unobservant/inconsiderate enough to overlook any parking guidelines when I park in the wrong place. And even if I am, I'm definitely not inconsiderate enough to leave a guilt note on the windshield of the person that I wronged after they move my car.
Sheesh!

Hey
guys! Getting back into swing again for the new year of classes. Some interesting
news to share, though...
Apparently I have a corneal ulcer - a small infected portion of the eye that can sometimes actually result in permanent vision loss - in my right eye. According to my doctor, it was probably a result of both a corneal abrasion (something injuring the eye, could be as insignficant as an eyelash) and my contact solution, as well as possibly my extended wear contact lenses. I am told that I should not use ReNu contact solution since recently an ingredient in ReNu has been linked to corneal ulcer formation. I have also been told that my Focus Night & Day lenses, which I have recently begun wearing, should be taken out for the night as often as is convenient, regardless of what the product boasts.
My particular ulcer is not within my axis of vision, and it isn't very deep, which is certainly a good thing. This means that, provided it is taken care of, even if scarring is permanent, I will be able to see as well as I did before the incident. I have been given Zymar eye drops and have been instructed to apply the drops to my right eye every half hour until six, and every hour thereafter until I return for a follow-up appointment in the morning.
One thing I am not sure of, however, is whether I am still eligible for Lasik eye surgery after my ulcer heals. I certainly hope so, as I really want to have the surgery done when my vision becomes stable. If you know whether I can still have the surgery following a corneal ulcer, please email me and let me know.

Still
here, just enjoying the summer. I will be back soon as the next college year
provokes an overflow of web-destined thoughts.
In the meantime, you can catch up on my daily arguments here on the IGN Boards, where my presence is almost always obvious. ;)

In
case you haven't noticed, I've added an Editorials
section to the site. You'll find a link on the Navigation Bar to the left,
as well.
So far, there are four editorials up. If you have the time, I suggest you read them - they're quite thoughtful, if I do say so myself! :)
By the way, comments are welcome!

MARIO
KART! WHOOOO!
And now, some little-known details about the games:
Mario Kart: Double Dash will likely include LAN capabilities, so that 8 players (on two GameCubes) can play at once. Speculation says that one player controls the driver, while the other controls the rider - in other words, the person who controls the weapons. The weapons are also different according to which character you choose. The following characters are confirmed:
Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Yoshi, Birdo, Wario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Baby Bowser, Koopa Troopa, and Koopa Paratroopa.
Pikmin 2: New colors of Pikmin will be introduced! Also, there will be a 2-player mode, but no details have been revealed yet about this feature. Also, a new characer, "Luujii/Ruujii" will be joining Olimar in this one. There will be more items, over 60 different types of creatures, random field events, underground dungeons (!!), and no time limit system! Woohoo!!

Well,
today's my 21st, and here I am updating my site. But that's okay, because I'm
21 and you're not... unless you are, in which case I rescind my statement. Plus
I have a web site and you don't... unless you do, in which case I also rescind
that statement.

Want
to see the best commercial ever made?
This commercial, for the new Honda Accord, aptly titled simply "cog", shows a crazy chain-reaction sequence of events produced completely with car parts from the new Honda. None of it was computer generated. It was all performed and recorded at once, and was not spliced together. It took the advertising team and designers 606 takes to get it right.
The
commercial was encoded by Beam TV (www.beam.tv) and I'm mirrored it here since
some people were have trouble seeing it.
Get it here (click to view or right-click and Save As... to download):
Also, there is an article about the commercial's production here.

Wasn't
that Zelda bonus disc with Ocarina of Time and Master Quest a great idea? Well,
some IGN Board members have come up with their own bright ideas for bonus discs,
and some of them are too good to be true (but they should still be true). =)

A
while back, your humble webmaster was banned from the G4 forums for some pretty
humorous reasons. If you'd like to review the situation yourself, you can check
out the conversation that provoked it here:
This was one of many. I encourage you to traverse my post history there and make a decision based on that... fair, or not? You decide.
The resident moderator, Ruddygore, had this to say of the situation:
"He is also hereby condemend for his actions outside of this forum."
Watch out, everyone! If you're a convicted felon or you've ever said anything negative to anyone in your life, you could be banned from the G4 Forums!
It's a shame, because without such Machavellian rule, the boards there might actually hold some appeal.

Since
you're already asking me if this is an April Fools joke, it's not. I just wanted
to pass along a method to speed up your IE. Basically what this does
is increases the number of simultaneous pictures loaded from 2 to 10. This works
in ME, 2000, and XP.
To back up your registry, which you should always do first before making changes to it, just go to Start > Run > Type "regedit" > Hit Enter > File > Export... > Type a filename. That will save a file that you can run to restore your registry to its current state in case you make changes to it that screw something up.
Then, you can download the following file and run it to increase your internet browsing speed: 10conn.reg.
Restart IE and you should notice a big difference.
The reason IE doesn't come set this way is that this setting doesn't follow internet standards, but it won't mess anything up even if the site that's transmitting the data doesn't like the settings, so you might as well give it a shot. If you don't like the idea of not following the general guidelines set for internet browsing, just don't mess with the tweak.
Oh, by the way, check out my vacation summary, pictures, and videos here!

Update: Despite subpar performance and questionable officiating, UK has

Donahue
sucks.
So his show was cancelled (last episode is Friday) and he was fired from MSNBC
due to a nice six months comprised of some of the lowest possible ratings recorded
on the Neilsen scale (0.1 as compared to Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor's
3.0).
Apparently
Donahue struck back with a nice jab about MSNBC trying to "out-fox Fox" thanks
to their hiring of a couple conservative journalists and analysts in the past
week (probably to replace him). Some sources suggest that Phil was mad about
an internal memo that was leaked to him that read something regarding him being
‘‘a tired, left-wing liberal out of touch with the current marketplace."
Well, unfortunately for Donahue, a lot of people apparently agree with that
statement.
It isn't that there is anything wrong with some liberal media, it's just that
a lot of the people they select have no idea how to communicate with the common
working-class American. Why, for example, did they choose Donahue, of all people?
I never liked the guy (he comes across as an absolute jerk), so right about
now I'm sitting in my chair laughing at the recent news. He's still probably
richer than I'll ever be, but at least I'm not an ass. =)
Following closely in the bad ratings and nonexistent viewers category is Hardball
with Chris Matthews, which might be more interesting if it wasn't like
a political Jerry Springer minus all of the interesting stuff. What
can I say? I've always agreed with O'Reilly on a lot of issues, and it looks
like I'm not alone.

Awesome
new F-Zero footage today, you MUST download it and give it a look! Sega and
Nintendo are developing it together, and it's looking absolutely incredible.
Data can be exchanged between the arcade and home through the use of a GameCube
memory card... hopefully there'll be a random track generator - include one
of those babies like in F-Zero X, and we'll be in business!
Again, incredible!
Download it here NOW! (20MB)
Also, I've ripped the music from the video and encoded it in high-quality MP3
for your listening pleasure.

with the downed power lines and thousands of cracking and breaking trees. I've

Well, lots of new
great stuff for everyone who likes new great stuff!
First of all, the forums are off to a great start, with a couple dozen members
already and some 250 posts. For just a few days of uptime, that's spectacular!
Next, we have more absolutely frightening photos of people dressed up as Link.

There
are now somewhere around 1500 icons to choose from on the
message boards, and I'm still adding them periodically, as well. I haven't
really promoted anything yet because I'm lazy, but I'll probably get around
to search engine submission and the like sometime in the near future. Until
then, you can browse the boards and become one of our first members!
It's hard to make this stuff into a news item without sounding like a schmuck, but I'll do my best. First off, there are all sorts of options available to users on the boards. I'm working on adding a community links collection, news board, and all sorts of other stuff to compliment the current features, as well. Icons and boards are completely free, since I'm running a one-man operation here. You can even suggest additions, features, and icons on the Suggestions Board and I will get around to implementing them whenever I feel un-lazy. =)
Naturally, we won't be growing to anything close to the size of the IGN Boards (probably the best and most well-known forum community on the internet), but I'm working on getting a comfortable co-community together here. ;)
There aren't very many restrictions on what you can post other than the usual keep it on-topic, don't be a jerk, etc, etc. I'm not going to ban anyone anyway. =P

Brand new host finally
- and this time, it's a winner. ICDSoft
is supposedly one of the best hosts available for the price, and I have only
heard and experienced good things so far. If you're looking for a place to host
your site, I would highly recommend them.
So it's 2003 finally, which is good, since that means that my classes are again finished and I'm treading into more treacherous territory with my new schedule. Lord knows what awaits me in my CS315 class, but I'm not too entirely optimistic.
But
more importantly, isn't reality TV annoying? Honestly, am I the only person
who is absolutely repulsed by the fact that the huge network conglomerates
have gotten to the point where they don't even have to try anymore? These days
you can make more money throwing three straight guys, a female, and two lesbians
into an apartment than you can writing, producing, composing, and presenting
a good sit-com. The most popular shows on television are all just derivatives
of MTV's god-forsaken Real World, where you're supposed to have sex
with everyone and everything and drink/smoke all while juggling a drug
addiction and the knowledge that your assigned roommate has a deadly case of
genital herpes. We have Survivor, Love Cruise, The Last Resort, American
Idol, The Osbournes, and just about every other type of show revolving
around humans that none of us have ever met doing things that none of us would
ever do. Is it me, or does that just speak loads about the state of society
these days?

Everyone's
either seen or caught wind of the hack new Metroid Prime commercial with the
live-action stuntsperson performing in tandem with in-game video and effects.
Well, as it turns out, Nintendo is going to be taking the same approach with
the Zelda ad campaign. I've got a pic here of the model they're going to use
for the commercials. It's pretty damn cool, if I do say so myself:

Hah! Message to Microsoft: YOU ARE TEH SUCK.
Does
Your Outlook Express Take FOREVER and a Day to Load?
I'll bet that pisses you off... well, wait till you find out WHY it takes
forever. Heh.
Microsoft has several of its major programs tagged so that they automatically
open Windows Messenger when you launch them - because they're pissed that AIM
is beating the hell out of them in sales. Since no one actually uses their POS
messaging alternative, they assume that launching it with their programs will
spark interest amongst clueless, innocent newbies who just want to check their
freaking e-mail.
Here's
How to Fix It:
Explore
to C:\Program
Files\Messenger\. Rename the Windows Messenger .exe (msmsgs.exe) to something
else - I personally prefer msmsgsKISSMYASSMICROSOFT.exe. Now, open Outlook Express.
Ahhh... much better, huh?
You'll
also notice that Hotmail and several other programs that launch Messenger with
them will now run much quicker. Why not send an e-mail to Microsoft letting
them know how much they suck?
4/16/02
Bunch of funny forum pics I've made uploaded for your use on the IGN

Many parts of the IGNCube
interview with Perrin Kaplan and Jim Merrick were cut. Among what is missing
is information regarding Rare's relationship with Nintendo, Zelda, and the development
of a Pikmin sequel. IGN has gone on the record saying that their reasons for
the removal of these portions of the interview lie in NCL's zero tolerance policy
concerning "harmless" jokes from company reps - according to NCL,
these jokes often turn into rumors and false belief (which does happen quite
often). However, if you want to find an unedited version of the interview, you
can do so elsewhere on the internet...

Nothing much going on here today. Don't forget to watch Adult Swim
tonight, if that's what you usually do. The Space Ghost episodes are going
to be good. Sort of working on writing a review for 007: Agent Under
