Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4
Reviewed By: Thatguy

First, I'd like to say if you were looking for a review like my last one than this isn't the right one to read. This review was somewhat hard to make decently long due to the fact that this is pretty much a graphical improvement along with some other better factors.

Graphics: The graphics were better than THPS3. The levels you were skating in were much more realistic than before. And there was more blood.

Storyline:...It's a sports game, there is no story. If you were expecting a story, you're really out of luck.

Gameplay: The controls in THPS4 are the same as THPS3 except for the new moves. I had no trouble with the controls whatsoever.

Camera: It's the same camera option in the last one. In the last one I had no trouble, therefore, I had no troubles on this one.

Misc. Stuff: Now here is the most indepth part of the review I can give you. The levels you skated in rocked. There's only one place that I really despise in this game. The other areas I either like, or I think they're decent. The best thing of all about them is that they're bigger then the skating ares in the previous games. There's no time limit in this game until you start a challenge. I loved that! It gives you the ability to look around the area and have some fun. The money was fun to get. The secret charactors were, however, some of the worst I have seen though. The only good one was Jango Fett. Back to a positive note: The music however was the best I have heard in a Tony Hawk game ever.

Although I do highly reccomend this game, if you're getting tired of the series, you may want to consider this one at least a rental. If you have hated the series, don't buy it.

Note:
For consistency reasons, the scores are arranged exponentially from 0 - 10, so that an average score lies closer to a 7 than a 5 (many review agencies do not take this into consideration, yet they award average games a 7 anyway).

: Should not even be considered a videogame

1: Absolutely not worth a try in any way

2: Little better than garbage, and nothing near rental or purchase status

3: Horrible game - flawed fundamentally, and not worth a rental or purchase

4: Bad game, but not horrible - painful to play, and probably not worth a rental

5: Below Average - probably not worth a purchase, but if you are interested, possibly a rental - bothersome to play

6: Close to Average, but not quite - could be worth a purchase, but only is you're interested - very obvious flaws

7: Average - could have been a good game, but misses the mark in one or more important categories; noticeable flaws, but still worth a purchase if you can overlook its problems

8: Above Average - a good game, and most likely worth the purchase, provided that it piques your interests; detectable flaws that affect the overall level of enjoyment, but not enough to ruin the experience

9: Great - a wonderful game that deserves a look from almost everyone serious about gaming; very few flaws, but enough to hold it from Excellent status; worth a purchase from anyone even remotely interested

10: Excellent - very rarely does a game this good make an appearance; very few detectable flaws, and those that are discernable are too small to affect the experience; near-perfect execution in almost every category; deserves a look and most likely a purchase from anyone at all; even those who aren't sure whether they are interested should at least give it a rent
